about

Al wrote the words in the back room of a pub in our home town Stroud as he watched the Autumn Sunday weather roll along the valley.

Each verse is a hymn reflecting life at that moment: the movement of air, water and the charge of the comming storm.

The last of four tracks to be realsed from this studio session at J&J Studios Bristol. Timed to coincide with the change in seasons its a reflective tune features sound effects, theramin, great lyrics and a great chordal bass part. Enjoy

lyrics

Daylight stole itself across a clockface,
lay in a corner by half past four.
Daylight stole itself across a clockface
Like some faith drying out at the door.
And our stars pulled us up in the hill mist,
made sure that we’d gone far enough to hear
her angels singing in the trees.

I’d been waiting for the rain this time,
my prayer hands were holding sand.
I’d been waiting for the rain this time,
I embraced the air as the land.
But my unforgiven won’t disappear,
sure as leaves keep falling here.

So the rain set itself in airpools,
and I rested there with the clouds.
So the rain set itself in airpools,
and I sank down, sank down, sank down
To no other horizon here
Save my memories and clean my dreams,
and the prayer for a staying love
to touch me just once more.

These Autumn skies are storm loom electric.
These Autumn songs are streaming her electras.
